Deü Sözlük is a collaborative hypertext Turkish dictionary and encyclopedia site that shares a similar concept with Everything2 or H2G2. Its aim is to build a community of contributors who believe that to share knowledge is to share life. The web site was created by two students of Dokuz Eylül University (sir baracuda and umehmet) in December 2006. The site is based in Turkey, and most entries are written in Turkish. That's not to say that everything contributed by users is in Turkish. Unlike h2g2, users have the ability to edit their own entries. On registering, users must submit at least ten entries before they qualify as a full user. They are known as rookies during this probationary period. This is to confirm whether the applicant has really understood the concept of Deü Sözlük. Authors, or "users" as they prefer to be called, not only contribute to this growing giant database, but they also continuously interact with each other socially through special gatherings called "zirve"s, which translates as "summit"s.

The site was shut down due to economical issues on 2nd of April, 2011. After 8 months, the site was opened again with a new domain, as "deusozluk.org", on 2 December 2011. In the second day of foundation, "deusozluk.org" broke the all-time record with more than 700 headlines. During re-establishment process (called as "the revolution" by the users), the volunteer users of "deusozluk.com" performed and managed the process. The new site offers better quality to its users through new facilities, higher speed and the new management style. The site has no specific owners currently; the responsibility, obligation and the costs are shared by the volunteer users. It's accepted that the ownership of the site belongs to all users.

The site management plans to extend the number of users, increase the advertisement efforts, provide financial stability and add new facilities to create a more user-friendly website.
